The watts linkage is some thing to disguise a flaw in the DD set up, you must know that a DD is a further developt for heavy saloons just arround the sec. war. When people want more confort and more speed out of the heavy axle arrangement those heavey saloons had. It is a mix between a live axle and indep. suspension.
I still believe that a live axle with 5 link set-up is the best for a Seven, only you need to find an axle that is light and strong enough to cope with the power, a all ali housing with ford banjo internals would be perfect, you would be able to run it on soft springs ( for comfort ) and still have plenty of traction.

Elie,
Wouldn t you consider an IRS set up as more practical at the end of the day? I understand the benefit of a DD or LA set up on a flat tarmac for tractability, however in real life a proper IRS might be a better engineering solution?

Darkvador, The IRS would be the best solution, however a Seven is all about simplicity and if you have a look at the new chassis that's gone a long way off.
To keep things in the family i would opt for the Chapman strut, this would lead to little or no modification to the chassis.
Since the roads these days are much better than say 20-30 years ago the disadvantages from a live axle are far more less than in those days, all depending on the type of springs you have.

<!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
