Darkvador, The IRS would be the best solution, however a Seven is all about simplicity and if you have a look at the new chassis that's gone a long way off.
To keep things in the family i would opt for the Chapman strut, this would lead to little or no modification to the chassis.
Since the roads these days are much better than say 20-30 years ago the disadvantages from a live axle are far more less than in those days, all depending on the type of springs you have.
