Going from Sprint to Super Sprint is indeed not wise, if you set yourself a rev. limit of 6000 / 6500 rpm you CAN get away with the much cheaper cast pistons.
A 711m block pose normally no prob. to enlarge it to 1700.
I would go for forged pistons with a 244 cam, modifyed cil.head and 1700cc and you will see about 150 /155 bhp thats enough to scare you and other Sevens
